Youth Council Representatives
Students who will be in High School in September 2019 can apply to be a Youth Council Representative. You will have the opportunity to sit on Town Council just like the elected officials, being involved in discussions and decisions of Council and ensuring that our upcoming generation's perspectives and issues are heard. Youth Council Representatives will not have any official power to make decisions on Council (i.e. their vote will not count) however they will be at the Council Table influencing Council having the opportunity for their case or views to be heard and considered. They will also have the opportunity to sit on other community Boards or Committees.
Not only will you have the opportunity to help to shape Claresholm, but this experience can likely be used for High School Credits as well as will look great on post-secondary school applications and your resume.
The position or appointment term is from September 2019 to June 2020. Up to 2 individuals will be selected, either by council or via an election process of your peers. To qualify you must:
- Be of of High School Age during the Appointment Term (i.e. Grade 9 - 12 in September 2019)
- Be a resident of Claresholm (i.e. live within the municipal boundaries of Claresholm)
Please find the application form attached as well as the Town Policy for more information on the program.
Application Deadline is May 15, 2019file
