Town Utility Costs
On March 11, 2019, Council gave 3rd and Final Reading to Bylaw #1659, the Water & Sewer Bylaw. Changes took effect on May 1, 2019.
This new Bylaw institutes rate changes each year for the new 4 years with fairly significant changes in the first 3 years and then inflationary increases in year 4. There is no increase in the water basic rate. Changes are primarily to consumption rates and consumption policies.
$36.00 per month for up to 10 cubic meters of water.
$1.30 per cubic meter thereafter.

Residential utilities are billed on a bimonthly bases (once every 2 months) and are due at the end of the following month. Utility invoices are mailed out a few days prior to the end of the month. To receive your utility bills via email, rather than regular mail, fill out the application form below and e-mail or drop off to the Town Office.

Payments can be made via cash, cheque, money order, or debit at the Town Office or can be paid through your financial institution. Alternatively you can sign up for our Pre-Authorized Utility Payment Plan (UPP). If signed up for UPPs the withdrawal from your bank will take place on the 15th day of the month (or following business day) following your bill. (e.g. January – February bill will be mailed or emailed around February 25th and payment will be automatically withdrawn on March 15th). To sign up for UPPs fill out the application below and e-mail or drop off to the Town Office.

Payments can also now be made by credit card through the Paytm Canada App. This is a 3rd party service that is currently a free service for personal (residential) accounts. The service provider may charge service fees and there may be restrictions on the types of credit cards accepted. Please refer to the service provider's website or app for terms and conditions of their services, charges, and payment processing times. (All payments must be received by the Town of Claresholm before the due date to avoid penalty and interest charges, so ensure payments are made early enough for the service provider to processes the payment).
